Mercury Retrograde

Mercury Retrograde is a phenomenon in astrology that often brings a sense of disruption, miscommunication, and delays. Here’s a quick beginner-friendly breakdown of what Mercury Retrograde is and why it gets so much attention:

1. What is Mercury Retrograde?

Retrograde Motion: In astrology, “retrograde” refers to a period when a planet appears to move backward in the sky. While planets don’t actually reverse direction, from Earth’s perspective, they can seem to “backtrack” due to their orbit.

Mercury’s Retrograde: Mercury, the planet associated with communication, travel, and technology, goes retrograde about three to four times a year, each time for around three weeks.

2. Why Does It Matter?

Astrological Impact: Mercury is considered the ruler of communication, travel, and thought processes. So when Mercury is in retrograde, astrologers believe that these areas may experience disruptions.

Possible Effects: You might notice misunderstandings, travel delays, tech glitches, or an increase in miscommunication with others.

3. Common Themes During Mercury Retrograde

Miscommunication: People may have a harder time understanding each other, leading to arguments or misunderstandings.

Technology Glitches: Devices and software can malfunction, emails might get lost, and files could disappear.

Travel Delays: Flights may be delayed, plans may fall through, and things just don’t go as expected when traveling.

Revisiting the Past: Old friends or ex-partners may resurface, or you might find yourself reflecting on past decisions.

4. How to Handle Mercury Retrograde

Double-Check Everything: Be extra cautious with emails, messages, and plans. Double-check details, backup files, and confirm appointments.

Be Flexible: Allow for delays and changes. Have backup plans in case things don’t go smoothly.

Pause Major Decisions: If possible, avoid starting new ventures, signing important contracts, or making big decisions. This time is better for review and reflection rather than new beginnings.

Practice Patience: Expect some disruptions and use this time to slow down, reflect, and reorganize rather than pushing forward.

5. The Silver Lining

Reflection and Review: Mercury Retrograde can actually be a positive time for introspection and review. Use it to revisit old projects, reconnect with people, or reflect on your goals.

Opportunities for Growth: By slowing down, you may gain insights or see things from a different perspective that helps you improve your approach going forward.

6. When is Mercury Retrograde?

The specific dates for Mercury Retrograde change every year. You can find current and future retrograde periods through astrological websites, apps, or calendars to help you prepare.

In essence, Mercury Retrograde is a period that can feel challenging, but with a bit of mindfulness, it can also offer a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect, and reassess.

I've channelled the "Smooth Mercury Retrograde" Ritual Oil in 2022. I use it during Mercury Retroshade and Retrograde season. The Retroshade season is one week before the actual retrograde and 1 week after. Like a pre- and after birth phase. I also highly recommend our "Smooth Mercury Retrograde" Manifestation Candle. In combination with the Ritual Oil you'll go smooth true every Mercury Retrograde.
